Only a few are called, that is, drawn to Christ, in this 6,000 year age of man (John 6:44). The vast majority will be called in the millennium and the general resurrection, the white throne judgment, which follows (Revelation 20:11-13, Ezekiel 37:1-14). The majority of people in this age are blinded by Satan and are unable to come to Christ at this time.

These people may agree verbally with the principle of letting the Bible interpret the Bible, but they are unable to do it correctly because Satan blinds them. Only when God opens the mind of a person He is calling to salvation is that person able to understand the Bible correctly and really repent. Yet, this does not happen apart from his own responsiblity to do the work of Bible study, and he should be diligent to follow the principle of letting the Bible interpret the Bible - letting clear scriptures interpret unclear ones.

It takes more than just trying to let the Bible interpret the Bible, in other words. It also takes a sincere heart, which only God can give. It takes faith to believe and act on what God says. If a person reads something in the Bible, but refuses to believe it, he can deceive himself by twisting its meaning and he will not even know it consciously. He will interpret it to mean what he wants it to mean, not even realizing what he is doing. He deceives himelf. And it is unlikely God will then help him understand the rest of the Bible.

But if a person reads something in the Bible, believes it, and obeys it, God sees his belief and helps him to understand more of the Bible. And that way, God can teach him little by little, more and more.

Letting the Bible interpret the Bible is not the only principle of Bible study, but it is an important one. Church of God members should practice all of the important principles of Bible study.author@ptgbook.orghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13775228362728122027noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1081631727760066049.post-58618390934946043702017-03-23T07:39:54.286-05:002017-03-23T07:39:54.286-05:00When you mention, "but they do not teach by e...When you mention, "but they do not teach by example and admonition the principle of getting all the scriptures on a subject and letting the Bible interpret the Bible". The idea of letting the Bible interpret the Bible does not necessarily of and by itself show right from wrong. Among all those who believe Jesus was born of a virgin, died through crucifixion and rose from the dead and call Him their Lord, when pressed about their doctrines also format it in the same manner.

They don't just cherry pick one verse and build entire imaginary teachings on it, that is not to say that many are not doing that, however.... It's been my experience that the better versed Christians from all over the board are also able to take all the(ir) scriptures together and promote their version of letting the Bible interpret the Bible.
